Hi Stephanie,
Your comparison follows below ...
Johnny AppleSpeed
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
iMac G5 1.9GHz 17" versus MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo 1.83GHz
iMac G5 1.9GHz 17" - MA063L/A - Released October, 2005
MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo 1.83GHz - MA463LL - January 2006
** This application does not yet run native on the Intel processor
++ The processor & graphics card scores above are based on CineBench 9.5 (email us to request the actual point scores for these machines)

The game test was obtain by running EVO2 4X4

A note on performance. Because of the time difference between when we tested these two machines, some of the scores above are estimates based on adjusted, original data.
If you need to access Windows then you will want to get one of Apple's new Intel based machines, which are not only faster, but will run Windows at full speed.
As you can see above, the hard drive on the MacBook Pro is significantly slower than the iMac (all portables have slower drives compared to current desktop machines). Also it appears that the MacBook Pro is slightly slower in graphics performance. Overall the MacBook Pro will provide you with greater flexibility, has the ability to run Windows, and will be faster on applications that do not yet run natively on the MacIntel chip, once those applications are rewritten for it.
The 2.0 GHz MacBook Pro is
10% faster at processing
equal in Graphics Performance
equal in Drive Performance
When compared to the 1.83 GHz version

Hello There,
I'd like the comparison of
MacBook Pro 15" 1.83GHz - MA463LL
&
2005 iMac 17" 1.9GHz - MA063L/A
I currently used Virtual PC to access the server/computer for work at least 2x/day, and use Word/Excel, iTunes & Entourage for the bulk of my time on the computer. Will the laptop be slower?
Whatta ya think? and.. if I may also ask, should I bump up to the 2.0 ghz?
= Current Model = Previous Model = Unavailable = Unknown/Delay = Installation Fee ($20 to $40)
Extras = Canadian Dollars
