A note on performance. In none of the Photoshop tests above were the processors of either machine maxed out. In the Dual Tuned test the dual machine was using 74% of its processing capacity, and the quad machine was using 60% of its processing capacity. If you don't have a strategy for maxing out the processors of the Quad Power Mac, much of the processing capacity of the machine will be waiting for something to do. If you do a lot of multitasking with your machine (running multiple processor intensive tasks at once), the Quad will get the job done much faster and provide you with greater flexibility.

Cost differential is significant, but is the performance worth the difference?
