Startup Doubler 1.0 is a shareware program that in theory
speeds up boot time by creating a secondary level disk cache.
The author of the program says the following -

Below you will find my stopwatch test on a Performa 6300 theoretically
the type of machine the program was designed for (a machine
with a slow hard drive). Tests were performed several times
with both standard set of extensions and also a more extensive
set of extensions and control panels. Test system was OS 8.
Startup Doubler has a 15 day free trial period so you can
download it and see if you get better performance out of it
on your machine than I did on mine. I experienced no compatibility
problems with it during it's brief stay on my machine.
